Melanie Foster was appointed to the MSU Board of Trustees in 2014 where she chairs the Finance Committee and Investment Advisory Committees and is one of two Trustees that serve on the MSU Foundation Board.  She was appointed to the MSU Foundation board by President Lou Anna K. Simon.

A native of Flat Rock, MI, she served as president and CEO of a commercial landscape company she built into a nationally acclaimed firm with offices in four states.

Foster is a member of Trinity Church of Lansing and serves on the Capitol Area United Way.  Former directorships include the MSU Wharton Center Advisory Council, Michigan Dyslexia Association, Charter National Bank, Artrain, State of Michigan Board of Landscape Architects Registration and the Associated Landscape Contractors of America.

Foster earned a B. S. degree from MSU in ornamental horticulture. She resides in East Lansing with her husband, John, and their three children.
