Izzo Family Medical Center Opens in University Health Park

Gillespie Group cut ribbon on medical office facility adjacent to McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital to accommodate expanding health services

LANSING, Mich. – The Gillespie Group celebrated its grand opening of the Izzo Family Medical Center, located just south of the McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital within the University Health Park. This 60,400 square foot, multi-tenant facility will house several essential medical services, including:

  • MSU Health Care at McLaren Greater Lansing Outpatient Imaging Center: The new outpatient imaging center is a collaboration between MSU Health Care and McLaren Greater Lansing. Occupying 22,632 square feet, the facility features the most advanced imaging technology in mid-Michigan, including four wide-bore MRI systems and a new PET/CT scanner. The center will also offer X-ray services, general radiology, bone density (DEXA), and ultrasound capabilities. Patients can expect convenient appointment options, faster scanning times and enhanced comfort during their visits. The partnership will also prioritize medical education and training for physicians and staff. Services will begin June 26.

  • Multi-Specialty Clinic by McLaren Greater Lansing: McLaren's comprehensive services, including internal medicine, obstetrics & gynecology, general surgery, urogynecology, and advanced imaging, will be available at this facility. Patients will benefit from increased access to high-quality healthcare.

  • Pediatric Specialty Center by Corewell Health's Helen DeVos Children's Hospital: Expanding its nationally recognized pediatric services, Helen DeVos Children's Hospital will seamlessly deliver patient care from the new hospital's birthing center to integrated diagnostic pediatric and adult services. Various pediatric services, such as cardiology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and rheumatology, will be provided, with additional services planned. Adult services will include congenital heart and maternal fetal medicine. Services will begin July 11.

Pat Gillespie, Founder and CEO of Gillespie Group discussed the transformative impact of the Izzo Family Medical Center on the community, "Our focus is to provide creative solutions that will impact a region now and for years to come through collaboration. The services and use of new technology by McLaren, MSU Health Care, and Corewell Health here at the Izzo Family Medical Center will change healthcare for the community."

The University Health Park was acquired by Michigan State University in the mid-1960s by President John A. Hannah and was used for entomology research for over 20 years. In 1988, Michigan State University deeded 110 acres of this land to the Michigan State University Research Foundation for the purpose of building a research park. After several early projects from 1989 to 1996, the development at the University Corporate Research Park stalled. McLaren Greater Lansing was the first major development in the park in over 20 years and the campus was renamed University Health Park to better describe the uses occurring in the complex.

“The Izzo Family Medical Center is a continuation of our ambition to build out the University Health Park," said David Washburn, Executive Director of the Michigan State University Research Foundation, which owns and operates the University Health Park. "The partners that have come together are working to redesign and elevate health care for generations to come. These projects will continue to revolutionize health care delivery, bring in new infrastructure that supports a world-class medical experience, and advance pioneering medical research and education. I can’t wait to see what’s next.”

The Izzo Family Medical Center represents an ambitious step towards the expansion and improvement of healthcare services in Lansing. With its modern facilities and collaborative partnerships, the center is poised to provide the highest quality care, advanced technology, and improved patient experiences.
