MSU Research Foundation Welcomes Five Startups to Incubator Facilities

The Michigan State University Research Foundation welcomed five startup businesses to incubator facilities in Grand Rapids and East Lansing, specializing in healthcare, medical devices, technology integration, consultancy, and non-emergency medical transportation.

EAST LANSING, MI — The Michigan State University Research Foundation welcomed six startup businesses to incubator facilities in Grand Rapids and East Lansing during the second quarter (October-December) of the 2023-2024 fiscal year.

Joining the startup community at The Bridge in Grand Rapids are:

  • HealthBar, a healthcare company offering accessible, nurse-driven services for businesses and schools. Founded by a team of dedicated nurses, the company aims to enhance the health and wellbeing of workforces and students within communities.

  • Emergency Medicine Innovations (EMI), a medical device startup improving the storage and transportation of blood, medications, and biologics. EMI’s miniaturized refrigeration and heating technology reduces the space required to transport vital resources for the military, first responders and the bio-pharma cold-chain industry.

"We’re excited to welcome these two businesses to The Bridge," said Kyle McGregor, Director of Health Innovations at the MSU Research Foundation. "Their work aligns perfectly with our mission to support and empower visionary technology startups. We look forward to supporting their growth and success within our vibrant community."

Joining the Technology Innovation Center (TIC) in East Lansing are:

  • AyeAI, an early-stage technology company specializing in tools that integrate business applications to machine learning for advanced analytics, automation, and decision-making. AyeAI operates from the TIC incubator facility.

  • MilesWest Group, a professional services consultancy and outsourced service provider, emphasizing fairness, equality, and inclusive business practices. Previously a virtual tenant at the TIC, the MilesWest Group has transitioned to a physical office within the incubator facility.

  • Ride YourWay, LLC, a wheelchair and ambulatory transportation company providing safe, dependable, user-friendly solutions for individuals with chronic illnesses and other medical needs. Headquartered at The Bridge in Grand Rapids, Ride YourWay has expanded to an additional East Lansing location at the TIC.

"Entrepreneurship thrives on innovation and collaboration,” said Jeff Smith, Director of Research Parks. “Welcoming these businesses to our incubator family in East Lansing reflects our commitment to nurturing new ideas and fostering an ecosystem where creativity meets success."

The Bridge and the TIC are both multi-tenant facilities designed to support emerging companies and researcher groups. The Bridge is located on the fourth floor of the Doug Meijer Medical Innovation Building within the MSU Innovation Park in Grand Rapids. It is designed to nurture high-tech startups and researcher groups, offering office spaces, collaborative environments, flex desks, workstations, conference facilities, and networking opportunities. Comprehensive startup programming and services are provided by Spartan Innovations. The TIC, spanning 7,000 square feet in East Lansing, serves as a collaborative workspace for tech startups, providing essential resources and programmatic support. With 19 offices and two conference rooms, it acts as a vibrant hub, encouraging forward-thinking entrepreneurs to exchange ideas and foster exceptional company growth. The TIC is operated in partnership with the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) and the Lansing Regional SmartZone.
